Andrew Gourlay debuts with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic at the Pikes Peak Center in the autumn of 2024, conducting Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes and Vaughan Williams Symphony no.5, alongside the Marimba Concerto of Christopher Theofanidis, in a new version for symphony orchestra.

Return to Porto
Following on from his recent Villa-Lobos performances in March, Andrew Gourlay returns to the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música again later in 2024 for an additional project centred around Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto no.3 with Rafael Kyrychenko, and the world premiere of a new commission by the orchestra’s Composer in Residence, Vasco Mendonça.

Opera premiere with Sir John Tomlinson
Sir John Tomlinson sings Milton in a new opera based on Paradise Lost, written specially for this year’s 350th anniversary of John Milton’s death. States of Innocence, by composer Ed Hughes and with a libretto adapted by Peter Cant, is conducted by Andrew Gourlay and performed in the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange as part of the 2024 Brighton Festival. Stuart Jackson sings the role of Satan.
Queensland Symphony Orchestra debut
Andrew Gourlay conducts a powerful two-piece programme comprising the Sinfonia da Requiem by Benjamin Britten and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no.5 in his debut concerts with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at the QPAC Concert Hall in Brisbane, Australia.

Parsifal Suite premieres
Awarded 5 stars by BBC Music Magazine, Parsifal Suite is Andrew Gourlay’s 45-minute suite for orchestra, which brings together all three preludes, the Good Friday Music, and both of the transformation interludes from Wagner’s Parsifal into one seamless concert piece. The work was published by Schott Music and released on disc with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Gourlay. It has now received concert premieres in Spain, Finland, the UK, Colombia, Portugal, India, Italy, the USA and France.
